Christmas Island

World-class Bonefishing, Giant Trevally, Yellowfin Tuna...
Two large advantages that The Villages has over the other lodges on Christmas Island are your boats are a 30-second walk from your bungalow, and you get a full-time guide. You're not sharing this guide with anyone else.

Christmas Island Fishing

Christmas Island is located in the Central Pacific in the Republic of Kiribati. Only 144 miles north of the equator, Christmas Island is the largest coral atoll in the world. World-famous for its vast numbers of bonefish and giant trevally, the endless clear water, sand and coral flats make spotting bonefish easier than other areas. Some of our clients have landed over 50 bonefish a day. One gentleman landed 50 bones - three days in a row.
From the Lodge, it's a 10 to 45 minute boat ride only to large, shallow flats teeming with bonefish. No long pickup rides. During our hosted weeks, we'll also fish outside the reef for tuna, wahoo, sailfish and other species. The skiffs are outrigger boats between 30 and 40 feet long, which are common to Christmas Island and the other fishing lodges. Each angler has his or her own guide. This is very unique. The Villages is the only lodge on the island that offers this service at no extra charge.

About the Villages

The Villages opened in 2006 and is run by locals which ensures true Polynesian hospitality. The the Lodge is located on a white sandy beach, overlooking an aqua-colored lagoon. There are ten, double-occupancy bungalows with air-conditioning, covered verandas, private bathrooms with shower. For those of you who have not been to The Villages, think “nice fish camp” not the Marriott.
Breakfasts are cooked-to-order. Fish is always one of the dinner choices. Other choices during the week include: chicken, roast turkey, roast lamb, and rib-eye steaks. Sashimi is served at happy hour each evening along with fruit, coconut, and cookies.
Dive packages are now available at the the Lodge. Exceptional birding opportunities.
